Eastbourne, Brighton & Bella.

The weekend just gone consisted of a road trip to Brighton as Jen was exhibiting her photography at The Gay Wedding Show. We decided to stop over at Eastbourne for the night as it was cheaper to stay there. We were wondering why Eastbourne was a cheap destination and couldn't figure out why.

Firstly, the hotels are top notch. The bedrooms were full of character, classy, had amazing artwork, had pink bed sheets and smelled ever so slightly of wee.

Jen decided to make the room less prison-like and more homely by moving the furniture about.

We left our non-depressing hotel and headed into town to see what Eastbourne had to offer.

Packed out bars...

Inflatable zimmer frames...

Unique entertainment,

And my own trolley dolly.

On Sunday we reluctantly left fun filled Eastbourne and drove along the coast to Brighton for Jen to exhibit at the wedding show. She did an excellent job and her work attracted a lot of attention.

Later that evening we celebrated a couple of bookings and a lot of interest at Jamie Oliver's restaurant.

And I even managed to lose 2.5 pounds at Fat Fighters tonight. Yesssssssss.

I didn't stay for the Fat Fighters meeting because I was in a hurry to get home!! Here is our new addition to the family, Bella the 8 week old border terrier!

Jess and Cleo seem to be accepting of the little one into the household. In fact, they don't seem to care so long as they still get fussed.

Bella is in her bed in the above pic and has adopted a rather unique sleeping pose...

I'm sure there will be many more posts about little Bella's escapades in the coming weeks.

Happy Monday everyone!!

Fat Fighters Return.

Last night I returned to Fat Fighters (aka Slimming World) after a 2 month period of doing very little exercise and a 10 day trip to the States thrown into the mix where I didn't eat a single vegetable for the duration of my stay.

Needless to say, I've put on a couple of pounds. Well 8 pounds to be precise.

I am happy because I am focused and back on track. It is my goal to lose 10-14 pounds by the time of my brothers wedding on the 10th December. Today I had fat free vanilla yoghurt with chopped banana for breakfast, left over syn-free chilli con carne for lunch and then I made a syn free lezza-gne with syn-free home made wedges flavoured with chinese five spice and paprika. Oh, and syn free salad :-)

For the white sauce in the lasagne I mixed a tub of fat free cottage cheese with 2 eggs and a sprinkle of nutmeg. It was yum. And because it was syn free I filled my boots.

Cleo watched on as we chomped our dinner.

Then she helped me eat my fat free jelly for pud.

England has turned cold. As I stepped off the plane on Wednesday morning I swore because I was crabby from lack of sleep and cold. I got home and Jen was preparing the log fire which made it all cosy in the cottage :-)

The cats have also made up and there has been minimal hissing and swiping the past few days. I think they actually like each other once more.

Mummy Armstrong came to stay last night and today we headed over to Stamford to meet my brother and his fiancé, Anna as they have recently moved 20 mins from me. We went to Burghley deer park for a walk...

I bypassed all the wildlife and culture and headed straight to the shop. I always do this.

Then we saw some deer.

In preparation of me starting back at Slimming World on Monday I decided to continue the theme from the USA and eat whatever I wanted at the pub which turned out to be an Indian burger.

In the mini pan was sag aloo which was nummy.

Tomorrow is the final day of naughtiness before the gym is visited and I get my ass whupped on the the scales at Fat Fighters.

Wish me luck.

A busy week and a lot of food.

My week long interview is over and it went well (I think). Now thats all over I have a couple of days to chill out and visit potential places to live should I get the job. It's day 7 in the USA and I've still yet to eat a vegetable that hasn't been laden with cheese or fried. My body is telling me to eat something nutritious so I bought some grapes tonight. In liquid form.

And then realised I had no way of opening my grapes.

A couple of swear words later followed by a trip to the shop, my grapes were poured into a plastic cup and enjoyed alongside some fresh pineapple.

I am now watching the X Factor and enjoying my second plastic glass of wine.

Yesterday I headed over to Philly to meet up with my friends John and Melissa.

With their 8 month old cutey pie, Brayden!

He stared at me for most of my visit because my British accent appeared to amuse him.

Yesterday I also visited New Hope in Pennsylvania. It is a beautiful place.

And has amazing ice cream. Once again, I asked for a small portion and ate it by the Delaware river.

Another adventure I went on involved a trip up to the Yonkers in NYC to see Catie Curtis at a gig in a small venue. My friend Kim picked me up and drove up to the gig. 'Don't worry Rach' she said, 'I know a route that will avoid all of the Manhattan traffic'.

An hour or so later we eventually arrived at what we thought was the venue and I was less than impressed to discover that it was a happy clappy Unitarian church. This is my unimpressed face.

Luckily this turned out to be the wrong venue and we arrived at the correct place just in time to meet up with a couple of Kim's friends, drink a beer and enjoy Catie. Here she is singing Magnolia Street :-)

That is all for now. I miss Jeni and my 2 furry babies.

Time for some more grapes and X Factor.

Yankee Doodle Dandy.

I'm currently across the pond in Princeton, New Jersey as I'm interviewing for a potential job transfer. I arrived on saturday afternoon and since then I have done the following...

Driven on the wrong side of the road in the biggest car I have ever set foot in and got excited when I did something correct.

Eaten Dairy Queen cookie dough blizzard.

Said Hi to the Eagles.

And drove past my old apartment in Philly.

Got sunburnt in a convertible.

Said au revoir to Philly and hello to Princeton and the New York Jets.

They lost. I might go back to the Eagles.

Drank beer with my friend Kim.

Ate some more.

And again on my way into work this morning.

Went to work.

Spoken to Jeni via FaceTime. She is currently in Bordeaux on a photo shoot and I asked her to wave for the camera.

That's quite a lot in 48 hours. No wonder I'm in bed at 8pm. Sleep time.
